Treasure Hunt Rules: New for 2013 is a wild and wacky Treasure Hunt 5k event. Contestants in this event look for healthy food products hidden along the 5k route, lug them back to the finish line, and receive corresponding time bonuses that are written on the food products. For example, an apple might indicate a 1 minute bonus, while a watermelon a much larger bonus. The fastest adjusted time (actual 5k time less bonuses) wins the event!
Top 5 win cash cards at Whole Foods Market (minimum 50 participants required or denominations will be halved): $100, $75, $50, $25, $25. To play Treasure Hunt, you simply visit the checkpoint at the finish line and get the time bonuses counted for your race number. No advance entry is required. You are still entered in age-division competition; we will count your Treasure Hunt time separately for the cash prizes. You must find and deliver at least two bonus items to quality for the Treasure Hunt awards. Any type of clothing is allowed, but no bags, backpacks, or anything else that is not a functional garment is allowed. Anyone observed cheating at Treasure Hunt will be pelted with lemons by judges.
Finish Venue: Physical challenges and entertainment for kids (Rock climbing wall, Giant inflatable obstacle course, Spider maze, live performers), healthy food samples, various health & fitness promoting vendors. Event does not offer childcare so please make arrangements while you are running.
